salt substitute

They're sitting in my drafts.  Potential posts about serious, possibly controversial topics.  The beginnings of a series called "salt".  But I'm not feeling it.  This time of year is stressful enough.  So let's put on a happy face (or a bizarre unblinking pancake smirk) and do something seasonal instead.  

You may know I'm not fond of this time of year.  One friend asked on Facebook this week what everybody's favorite holiday treat is.  I said, "boxing it all up".  It's true.  But there are some things I do enjoy about the season and thought I might do a 12 Days of Christmas or something. 

Of course, the actual 12 Days, known as Christmastide, begin on Christmas Eve.  And I'm not stretching this that far. 
So how about a simple Christmas Top Ten?  Ya with me?
