National Novel Writing Month is almost here, a time for wannabe novelists to crank out 50,000 words in 30 days. I've yet to win this challenge though I jump in every year. There's something so soothing about communal desperation. Yeah, you may be panicked and spewing nonsense, but at least you're 're not in the writing life alone. This time, I want to use the month to try something new. I'd written a script awhile back as part of another challenge so I had the idea to write the backstory of each major character as an ebook. Not their entire backstory, but one point in each life that helped define them. That way each can be short, like 10,000-12,000 words, and maybe I can knock out a few of 'them next month. Well, that's the plan. Why don't you join me? What could you write during NaNoWriMo?
