Two of my favorite UK YouTube stars posted their reflections on content this week and it resonated with me because of what I wanted to post yesterday. 

Singer Dodie Clark has been participating in something called VEDA this month.  It's a YouTube challenge -- Video Every Day in August (or April).  She did VEDA on her second channel, where she vlogs and talks and shows footage from gigs.  Her main channel is for her songs, mostly on ukulele.  As her audience has grown, Dodie's perception of what fans wanted shrank.  She became afraid to do anything other than ukelele songs.  But having to produce a video every day seems to have freed her of that.  She decided she should post what she thinks is good, and let the view counts fall where they may.

A couple days after Dodie's video, YouTuber Charlie McDonnell posted a comparison of two of his videos: a 10-minute short film, and a 10-minute video of him eating cereal.  His findings are fascinating.  And (spoiler) he comes to the same conclusion.  Post what you like. 

Well, that's what I did.  But then I realized -- I can't. 

I so wanted to post the video of that Jonathan Mann song because the lyrics are brilliant.  But the video is treacherous.  But that SONG!  But the video.  ugh.

You see what decision I made.  I still need to keep this place somewhat family-friendly -- I do have nephews.  But in general, I would like to take the advice of these two artists and give you a warning.  I may write about fandoms.  I may point you to a cause.  I will write about whatever floats my geeky boat.  But it will be safe for work.  And nephews.  And maybe even Baptists.  Though I can't promise that last one.
